Star Wars: Episode VII Casting Confirmed
In a picture sure to send fanboys (and let’s just not be sexist anymore because fangirls are a thing, too) into a frenzy, the Star Wars: Episode VII – Full Title to Break the Internet When Revealed Later has revealed its main cast.
Joining the original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will be a team of unknowns, kindaknowns and definitleyknowns: John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.
It remains to be seen if Driver and Isaac will once again unite in song as they did in Inside Llewyn Davis, although it’s a safe bet they will not. As for Max von Sydow, his character has yet to be revealed, but based on decades of work, it’s likely it will be evil in some fashion.
According to the report, J.J. Abrams had this to say to the fans.
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
The other big news Star Wars also recently announced that the past 35 years of Extended Universe media, including the excellent Thrawn Trilogy, will no longer be a part of the canon and have been re-branded ‘Legends‘. This movie will be setting the course for the future of the entire franchise, so a lot falls on this cast.
What are your thoughts on director J.J. Abrams cast for what will surely be one of the biggest movies of 2015?
