Welcome back, Face Off fanatics! It’s time for another Face Off recap here on TheNerdyBomb! Our artists end up at the Herald Examiner Building, and McKenzie dishes the goods about the newest spotlight challenge: Superheroes. And here’s the awesome twist: Our artists will be transforming THEMSELVES into the superheroes.
The coaches step in to help streamline the artists’ concepts and get them started creating their characters. Most of the artists are taking aspects of their own personalities and weaving them into the superheroes. Stephanie is struggling with creating a face for her character. She finally gets a concept as the time runs out for day one.
It’s day two, and most people have their pieces sculpted. Logan is taking some time to create fantastic-looking dragon wings for his dragon-inspired superhero. Emily is allergic to latex, and has run her mold in gelatin with really awful results. She’s opting to run her mold in silicone—if that doesn’t work, she won’t have a face for the spotlight challenge. Darla has created a really cool looking mask based on filigree that she took pictures of at the Herald Examiner building. Her superhero is definitely going to be a cool thing to see.
It’s application day. Emily’s new silicone mask came out great. The artists have four hours to put their characters together before going to last looks. Stephanie isn’t doing so good, but with the help of other artists, the superheroes are all coming together incredibly well. It’s time for last looks, and everyone is going as fast as they can to finish. In all honesty, there are some awesome superheroes.
Take a look at what they created:
Since Ben wore a mask, I took the image that I thought best showed his character.

The entire superhero line-up…
Our guest judge this week is none other than Todd McFarlane! How awesome is that?!
The judges do their walk through (which is awkward) and then judge Darla, Ben, and Julian as safe this week. Logan is up first with his dragon-inspired character. The judges really enjoy his character. Emily is next, and the judges are tired of seeing big hair from her time and time again. Glenn calls her piece a “hedge.” It’s Adam’s turn, and the judges are happy with his straight-forward piece. Stephanie is next (I’m dreading this one) and the judges are just underwhelmed with her piece. Ve not only compares her to previous character she did in “The Lost Boy,” but says that she looks like an old lady.
With all that said, the judges deliberate and declare Logan the winner, and Stephanie is kicked off this week.
What did you think of the pieces this week? I thought this was one of the most awesome challenges yet. Let us know what you thought in the comments!
