Holy moly! Are you ready for the Face Off recap of the season finale? Cause it’s here! If you need other recaps from this season, they’re all here on The Nerdy Bomb! We start our finale at the end of the last episode, after our finalists are listed:
and McKenzie reveals that our finale is starting right now with ALL of our eliminated contestants returning to help our finalists out – which they most definitely need, since they will be creating four characters EACH. Here’s how our teams end up:
Darla: Rob, Anthony, Stephanie, Daniel
Emily: Adam, Jamie, Regina, Kelly
Logan: Julian, Ben, Gregory, Will
Our reunited artists find themselves in a lab that’s been decorated to look like an awards ceremony. McKenzie is waiting at the end of the red carpet, and reveals that each of our artists must create four characters that work as a team to take on the bad guys.
Our genres are:
Emily – Post-apocolyptic
Logan – Sci-fi
Darla – Fantasy
Our artists have to work with their teams to come up with a name for the movie their characters will star in – they have one minute to shout out and grab stick-on letters from a wall in the lab, and then they have five minutes to put together their words to create a movie title.
Darla: The Spirits of Eden
Emily: Paradise Reckoning
Logan: The Fortress
And as an added bonus, the characters will be performing in front of a public audience at Universal Studios who will vote and help choose the winner. (HOLY MOLY)
The finalists begin their sketches to get their teams lined out, and the ideas are absolutely HUGE. There’s no other word for it. This is such a huge undertaking, it will be incredible to see what happens.
Michael Westmore does his walk through and gives each team tips on making their individual teams stand out from the others. As he leaves, day one comes to close.
Day two, and the teams have ten hours to finish their molds – and each team is doing everything they can to get as much done as possible – fabrication, molds, painting, vacu-forming – it’s insane to see everything that’s going on in that lab.
It’s day three, and it’s application phase – four hours before last looks. The models arrive, and the teams start getting them into their prosthetic and fabricated pieces. I’ve got to say – Logan’s post-apocolypic team of animals in insane. He’s got a full armadillo costume going onto one model, a skunk get-up going onto another… Emily’s starting to micromanage her team, as her post-apocalyptic Wizard of Oz team aren’t coming out as dramatic as she’d like, and Darla’s spirit element team is looking incredible.
Time ticks down and it’s off to last looks, which takes place on a themed stage for each team. Once they’re all in place, they let the crowds in.
Let’s see what our finale teams came up with!
The attendants at the “premiere” walk through and cast their votes for their favorite team. The judges walk through, and then everyone goes to the spotlight stage. Logan is called up first, followed by Darla, and finally Emily. As with every other finale, the artists all get great remarks from the judges.
The VIP premiere ended with Darla getting the most votes. The judges deliberate, and decide that Darla is the winner, with Laura being the winning returning champ!
