Another week, another Face Off recap! If you’ve missed the last few recaps of this new season, we’ve got all the Face Off recaps right here on the TheNerdyBomb.
We kick off this episode with our contestants walking into the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Our judges are waiting beside a display of foliage with different animal-themed badges. Ve Neill reveals that our contestants will be engineers of their own evil games, creating their own deadly predator. The teams are assigned as follows, and each team chooses an animal, and gets the plant that goes with that animal.
Kelly & Daniel – Scorpion & Delphinium
Ben & Darla – Ram & Cactus
Julian & Adam – Bat & Sugarbush Protea
Anthony & Logan – Warthog & American Pitcher Plant
Emily & Regina – Hyena & Shampoo Ginger
Stephanie & Allen – Thorny Dragon & Coxcomb
Rob & Jamie – Piranha & Blue Thistle
Our teams also get a huge announcement: Josh Hutcherson will be joining the judges to help determine the winners. Our teams head off to go sketch their creatures and incorporate elements from BOTH the animals and the plants. The judges made it clear they don’t want a predator with just a flower on its head.
The teams head to the lab for 5.5 hours of sculpting. Regina & Emily have a tough time from the start, as they’re creating pieces that just don’t go well together. Michael Westmore does his walkthrough, giving many teams advice on how to step-up the scare factor on their pieces.
Day two comes and goes, and almost every team is running behind or having problems. By day three, as the models walk in, everyone is scrambling to get their pieces out and fitted. At last looks, paint is flying, glue is dripping, and everyone is throwing extras on their piece to make it up to snuff.
Let’s see what the teams came up with:
The judges do their walk-through, and call up Logan & Anthony, Daniel & Kelly, and Rob & Jamie. They’re all deemed safe this week. Emily & Regina are called up next, and the judges really enjoyed their piece, which really redeemed them from last week’s failure. Julian & Adam come up, and Ve calls their piece a “psychedelic artichoke with a bat face.” Ben & Darla take their turn, and the judges are floored by their piece. Neville says it’s the best piece he’s EVER seen on Face Off. (WOW. That’s quite the compliment.) Stephanie & Allen come forward, and their piece is just too soft to make an impression.
The judges deliberate, and decide that Ben & Darla are the winning team this week, with Ben being the winner. Alan is eliminated.
