We’re all the way up to episode four of this season of Face Off. We’ve got 13 contestants remaining, and this season is proving to be incredible. We open up with our contestants at the Normandie Casino in Hollywood. McKenzie reveals that this will be our first individual challenge, and each person must come up with a playing-card-royalty inspired character with a suit theme, a la Tim Burton’s Queen of Hearts. This will be awesome. The contestants start their sketches, and some of these ideas are amazing.
Every contestant is molding their pieces, and getting their suit integrated into their molds. Day one ends, and day two arrives. The champions are helping their teams get the most out of every second, making sure that their molds and ideas are up to snuff. On day three, Stephanie finds out that her model won’t be there, and a sub will be used, which means her wide prosthetic will now have to be put on a thin model. Regina is falling critically behind. She’s planned a two-faced joker, and she’s only just begun painting the first face when the clock runs out and last looks arrives.
McKenzie welcomes the contestants, and reveals a special judge this episode: Robert Stromberg, who worked on Alice in Wonderland, Avatar, and even directed Maleficent. (Let me preface this by saying that with all the awesome ideas, some of these turned out less than spectacular.) Let’s see what our first individual challenge brought:
The judges do their walk throughs, and declare Kelly, Ben, Regina, Rob, Logan, Stephanie, and Adam safe.
Darla is called up first, and Glenn loves her piece. Jamie is up next, and her king doesn’t sit well with the judges. Emily comes forward, and Neville, along with the other judges, absolutely loves her piece. Anthony gets called up, and Ve says his piece is just a mess – not even worthy of clown make-up. It’s Daniel’s turn, and his queen of diamonds is judged anything but a queen. Julian’s last, and the judges actually really like his piece.
The judges deliberate, and Emily is judged the winner. Daniel is eliminated.
