Happy Wednesday! We have a brand new Face Off Recap for you this week, and it looks promising! Last week’s Face Off recap proved difficult for the contestants, as many pieces were underwhelming. Let’s see what this week’s Face Off Recap holds!

Our contestants walk in, and McKenzie is standing before the models, with each donning a superhero outfit. We have a spotlight challenge connected to these superheroes, and the guest judge for this challenge helped create the looks on Hellboy, Fantastic Four, and many more:  Mike Elizalde.

In today’s foundation challenge, our contestants must create a superhero to go along with their model’s superhero outfits in a two hour time frame. Here’ what they come up with:

Mike walks through, and awards Rachel with immunity.

It’s time to find out about this week’s spotlight challenge, and as the contestants walk into the lab, and McKenzie is standing beside a large tree. She reveals that this week’s spotlight challenge revolves around creating intelligent tree creatures. Our contestants can choose between Banyan, Silk Floss, Britstlecone Pine, White Birch, Sequoia, and Weeping Willow.

Our contestants will be working in teams of two, however, the contestants get to choose their own partners. Here’s how it pans out:

Doc & Jason: Bristlecone Pine

Sasha & Stella: White Birch

Cig & Drew: Weeping Willow

Vince & Damien: Sequoia

Dina & Rachael: Banyan

George & Kaeghlan: Silk Floss

McKenzie has a surprise for the artists, and reveals that each tree must be twisted (evil) and have a malady. Here’s how McKenzie doles out the maladies:

Doc & Jason: Bristlecone Pine – lightning strike

Sasha & Stella: White Birch -burl

Cig & Drew: Weeping Willow – pests

Vince & Damien: Sequoia – rot

Dina & Rachael: Banyan – fungus

George & Kaeghlan: Silk Floss – choking vines

Our artists start sketching and sculpting their pieces. Michael Westmore walks through, and is immediately displeased with Dina & Rachael’s Banyan tree. They’re left starting over. The rest of the teams get small critiques, and all move forward.

Drew and Cig start off day two with some molding difficulties, and they’ve acquired some cracks in their mold. Sasha and Stella have some troubles fabricating the hands for their model, and they have to scrap their idea and start over. Toward the end of the day, Doc’s molded arms are crumbling. By the end of the day, it’s just a mess, and he’s going to have to scramble to get some arms for their creature.

The models arrive, and each team starts assembling their pieces. The application phase dwindles down, and it’s time for last looks.  Here’s what our artists came up with:

The judges do their walk through, and deem George & Kaeghlan, along with Dina & Rachael, safe. The judges pull Doc & Jason up first, and Glenn calls their piece awe-inspiring.  Next is Cig & Drew, whose weeping willow tree is missing half of it’s costume. It turns out that the branches were removed backstage due to a weight issue. That said, the judges still aren’t impressed with the piece. Sasha & Stella come up, and while the judges love it, the judges ask for the hands to be removed since they are SO awful.  Damien & Vince get a striking blow from Glenn, when he says their costume is great for an office Halloween party, and Vince calls the piece “Devoid and crippling”.

Doc and Jason, along with Stella and Sasha, are deemed the top looks for the week. Doc and Jason take the winning team for this week, and Jason is the winning artist. Cig and Drew, along with Vince and Damien, are in the bottom this week, and Vince is eliminated.

Do you agree with the judge’s decision? What did you think of this week’s Face Off recap? Do you have any predictions for this season’s winner? Let us know what you think in the comments or in the TNB forum!
