IT, have you tried turning off and back on again?”
The IT Crowd
The IT Crowd is a fantastically funny British sitcom from Graham Linehan and the UK’s Channel 4. It was originally aired in 2006. The last episode of season four, the final season, aired in July 2010. The official final, stand-alone episode of the series, “The Internet is Coming,” finally aired on September 27th, 3013. There are a measley six episodes per season. That means there are only 25 episodes in the entire series, so it’s a quick series to watch. (That’s both good and bad, since it’s so good!)
The IT Crowd centers around the three main characters: Maurice Moss (Richard Ayoade), Roy Trenneman (Chris O’Dowd), and Jen Barber (Katherine Parkinson). Roy and Moss are the entire IT department at Reynholm Industries, until technologically-ignorant Jen cons her way into getting hired on as the IT relationship manager. Confined to the sub-basement, these exasperated IT guys and their all-but-useless manager get into all kinds of schenanigans.
Moss and Roy’s socially-inept antics will have you in stitches. While Roy is at least relatively competant in some social situations (not including dinner parties or drinking at sports bars), Moss doesn’t know how to act at all.
Some of the best episodes? “The Red Door,” “The Work Outing,” “The Dinner Party,” “Are We Not Men?” “The Speech,” “Bad Boys,” and “Italian for Beginners” are my absolute favorites!
Watch The IT Crowd on Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.
